WCC Councillors’ Grant Fund 2020/21 Round 2

The Warwickshire County Council Councillors’ Grant Fund is aimed at community and voluntary organisations. The Fund provides each of the County’s 57 Councillors with a pot of £6000 to support small-scale projects within their division that support the following outcomes:

  • Warwickshire’s communities and individuals are supported to be safe, healthy and independent
  • Warwickshire’s economy is vibrant and supported by the right jobs, training, skills and infrastructure

All applications should aim to build community capacity and improve the health and wellbeing of people living in Warwickshire. In particular, applications which address one or more of the following priority categories will be favoured including those who are able to demonstrate their project links to the local Joint Strategic Needs Assessment.

  • Improve community assets and their sustainability
  • Improve access to services
  • Improve financial capability
  • Reduce loneliness and isolation
  • Improve physical and/or mental health and wellbeing
  • Promote equalities and inclusivity
  • Improve the physical environment or reduce the environmental impact

Projects that continue to support Covid 19 and the wider impacts of the pandemic will also be considered.

Applications will need to be submitted using our online application form. Please note that you cannot save this form and you will have to complete it in one go. Applications cannot be edited once you have submitted, so please ensure you prepare your answers before submission. Click here to access the list of questions. You will get an email with a copy of your responses after the closing date.

Deadline for applications is Sunday 27 September 2020 5pm.

Councillor Williams (the County Councillor for Avon Dassett) has £3,948 remaining of his grant allocation.

The Yew Tree Relaunched!

The Yew Tree, Avon Dassett has been taken over by Jack McEntee and the Happy Wolf Pub Company Ltd and is relaunching on Friday 4 September! They have had a lovely refurb and are now introducing a new limited menu, a cocktail list, brand new children’s menu and a wine list!

Give them a call on 01295 690844 to book a table or just pop in for a drink, they are open from 12pm on Friday 4 September, food 12-2:30/5:30-9.

Theft of BMW from Avon Dassett

News

UPDATE – Car found and 2 of the 4 suspects apprehended.

A BMW was stolen from Avon Dassett last night (20 August) c. 2330. The house was broken into, keys stolen and the car taken.

The proceedings were captured on CTTV and 4 people were recorded waiting outside the house for about 15 minutes. During this period various cars went up and down the village. The house may have been watched from the bus stop area and then moved to the playground when the house lights went out.

If anyone saw anything suspicious in Avon Dassett last night please could they contact the police on 101. The crime has been reported and an incident number will be posted when received.

COVID-19 Survey – Please complete!

To understand how the Covid-19 pandemic has affected people, Warwickshire County Council is inviting people to complete a short survey. Responses will help the council to shape future support to me…

The survey is an opportunity for residents to give their opinions about the different ways in which Covid-19 has impacted their lives and covers a variety of topics including health and wellbeing, local town centres and high streets, transport and green spaces.

The results from the survey will highlight key issues experienced by people throughout the Covid-19 pandemic and will help to inform how our services and communities recover to be the best they can be following the initial pandemic response.

The survey, which should take around 15 minutes to complete, is available online at ask.warwickshire.gov.uk/public-health/covid-survey/. All respondents must be aged 18 and over. Anyone who would like to complete the survey but does not have internet access can call 01926 731484 and someone can complete the survey over the phone on your behalf.

“Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, everyone has adjusted to a new way of living to help reduce the spread of the virus. We are hugely grateful for how communities have adapted, looked after each other and carried on in very difficult circumstances.

“To understand more about the impact of the pandemic on the lives of Warwickshire residents we are asking people to take a few minutes to complete the survey so we can develop and shape our recovery plans with your input.”

VJ Day 75 – 15 August 2020

Save the date!

Following a very successful commemoration of the 75th anniversary of VE Day on 9 May 2020, Avon Dassett will be celebrating the 75th anniversary of the end of the war (VJ Day) on Saturday 15 August. Villagers are asked to gather at The Yew Tree from 1500 hours. There will be:

  • A mini exhibition of Avon Dassett and WWII prepared by the Local History Group and hosted by The Yew Tree
  • A special reprise of the 1940s Sing-along-a Sally at The Yew Tree. Song sheets here
  • Bunting and village decorations
  • Flowers at the War Memorial to remember those who lost their lives in the conflict
  • Cream Teas available to pre-order from The Yew Tree (£4.50 each) but villagers are also welcome to bring picnics to the pub or in their garden as they did on VE Day
  • Villagers are invited to decorate their properties with bunting and/or wear a poppy/white chrysanthemums (the Japanese flower which commemorates loss)
  • The Union Jack will fly from the flagpole at the play park

The whole day is being co-ordinated by Councillor Liz Hirst.
