Dog Fouling

Dog fouling or dog mess is a nuisance, unsightly, unpleasant and can spread diseases to other animals and people. Dog owners, and dog walkers, have a responsibility to clean up after their dog in public places. Failing to do so can result in a Fixed Penalty Notice of £75 or prosecution.

  • Always carry a poop scoop, which is a specially designed plastic shovel, or a
bag to pick up your dog’s mess
  • Place the dog mess to a dog bin or normal on-street litter bin
  • If there isn’t a dog mess bin, please take it home and dispose of it in your grey bin. Dog mess should not be put in your green bin.

The Environmental Protections Team’s Dog Officer regularly patrols locations where complaints about dog fouling have been made. They ensure that there is adequate signage in the area and they have been using a new tactic by highlighting the problem with temporary yellow paint.

The Environmental Protection Team has also linked in with Stratford’s voluntary
group “Rubbish Friends” who now delivers the anti-dog fouling message to
local schools and youth groups.

Cake Not Hate Get Together

The event is taking place on Saturday 19th October at the Royal Spa Centre, Leamington Spa CV32 4HN, 11:00 – 14:00.

The event is free, but we are hoping as many attendees as possible bring their own homemade cakes & bakes to share. We have Trish Adudu returning as our emcee this year, and our main speaker is Figen Murray. Figen’s son, Martyn Hett, was one of the 22 people who lost their lives in the Manchester Arena Attack. Figen will deliver a powerful and inspirational talk about her experience of forgiveness and messages to bring communities together.

We will also have a drama piece delivered on the day depicting how a local hate crime was dealt with in Warwickshire; this will be followed by a Q&A expert panel of Warwickshire Police, the Police and Crime Commissioner and the Crown Prosecution Service, for attendees to ask them questions.

Attendees can book on to the event by going to https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/warwickshires-cake-not-hate-get-together-2019-tickets-68125949549

Walk of Hope for Brain Tumour Research – 28 September

Brain Tumour Research are organising a charity event called the Walk of Hope on 28th September at Hatton Locks, Warwickshire.

Brain tumours are indiscriminate; they can affect anyone at any age. What’s more they kill more adults and children under the age of 40 than any other cancer… yet historically just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease.

They are building a network of experts in sustainable research at dedicated Centres of Excellence whilst influencing the Government and larger cancer charities to invest more nationally and we are the only national charity in the UK that is dedicated to raising funds for continuous and sustainable scientific research into brain tumours.

Here are a few stories from Brain Tumour Research patients and supporters who live in Warwickshire:
