The Councillors’ Grant Fund is aimed at community and voluntary organisations. The Fund provides each of WCC’s 57 Councillors with a pot of £6000 to support small-scale projects within their division. The County Councillor for Avon Dassett is Chris Williams.

This is now an online application process and the deadline for applications is 5pm on Friday 31st August 2018.

Please note the application form cannot be saved and should ideally be completed in one session. If you are unable to complete the entire form in one go, please complete it up until the end of Section 13, accept the declaration and privacy statement at the end, then submit your form. You will be emailed a link to return to the form to either complete the rest of it or edit your responses.

Warwickshire Community and Voluntary Action (WCAVA) are holding a series of funding workshops to support groups or organisations considering applying to the Councillors’ Grant Fund. This will include providing guidance on: eligibility of projects, advice on completing a funding application, and signposting to other funding or support sources:

No Rogue Traders Here is a privately run approved trader scheme in partnership with; Birmingham, Solihull, Wolverhampton and now Warwickshire Trading Standards.

The scheme is a managed network of businesses, rather than a list. Each one has been through a very detailed vetting process, including intelligence checks from each participating Trading Standards Service.

1. Warwickshire residents can simply register either online at https://www.noroguetradershere.com/or by freephone 0800 233 5000 and use the scheme free of charge. They just need to register their basic details, confirm the type of trader and the work they require.
2. The customer will then receive a profile of up to 3 scheme members, depending on the size of the job, who meet their requirements.
3. The consumer contacts the traders to get quotes and then makes a decision.
4. A written quote/contract is drawn up by the chosen trader and a start date agreed.
5. NRTH monitor the contract, to make sure the quotes are clear, complete, fair and accurate.
6. When the work is completed, NRTH then contact the consumer to check that they are happy with the result. The administration of the scheme is carried out by NRTH, including the registration of traders and consumers.

The number of Warwickshire residents registering with NRTH has been good so far and has reached 1037 since January 2017, but incidents of residents being ripped off or experiencing difficulties is still too high and awareness across the whole county needs to be raised.

Registered Traders

There are approximately 46 businesses willing to work within Warwickshire, seven Warwickshire businesses have now registered with NRTH, since January 2017.

NRTH and Trading Standards try to be very thorough with their selection process and are very careful with choosing whom they allow onto the scheme.

Monday 11 June will mark the first day of Carers Week 2018, bringing an opportunity for everyone to raise awareness of the different services on offer in Warwickshire to help make carers’ lives a little bit easier. Carers Week is about building communities which support carers to look after their loved ones whilst recognising that they are individuals with health and wellbeing needs of their own.

A carer is anyone who regularly provides unpaid help to someone who could not cope without them. Unfortunately, many people do not realise that they are carers, while many who do realise are unaware that there is support available for them.

Warwickshire County Council, in partnership with Warwickshire Carer Wellbeing Service, will promote Carers Week locally, with themed news and activities taking place throughout the week. View schedule of local events
