What you can do to support your community during COVID-19

During these challenging times, it’s crucial to support those in your community. Here are some practical ways to do so.

  • Volunteers from across Warwickshire are needed to help support Warwickshire County Council’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic as part of a national testing programme. You can register your interest here.
  • Have a phone conversation – we are currently looking for volunteers who can make befriending calls to people who are shielding. Click here to register.
  • Community Volunteers – we are also working alongside local mutual aid groups to refer volunteers who are happy to run errands such as prescription collection and grocery shopping for people needing to isolate. Click here to register.
  • Give blood or plasma – if you are in good health, giving blood is a great way to support your community during this time of need. Register here.
  • Food banks – Food bank donations are needed more than ever before in the UK. Find your nearest Food bank.

COVID Vaccine

The good news is that the vaccine is now on its way. More information below. But just a reminder NOT to phone your local surgery about this. Invitations will initially be made via telephone and text message. Invitations will be sent gradually according to both the supply of vaccine from the NHS, and according to the priority groups set out by the Joint Committee on Vaccination & Immunisation.

Please leave the phone lines of local surgeries clear so they can deal with all the other urgent health needs of the community.

Xmas Eve Carols!

It has been a challenging year, but let’s get together in a COVID-safe way on Christmas Eve for socially distanced carols from Dassett and Friends who provided the music for VE Day in May accompanied by pianists Jasper, Mia, Tess and Bella.

A few carollers will sing a small number of favourite carols and Christmas songs through the village from 4.30 pm on Christmas Eve. It would be great if you could come to your doorstep and join in to celebrate Christmas 2020!

The singers will be on the steps of St John the Baptist Church at 4.30 pm. At the grass triangle at Lower End at 4.45 pm, finally ending up in front of The Yew Tree at 5 pm.

Here is the online version of the carols: https://youtu.be/QJ4IKMCksF8

And here is the song sheet for you to sing along on your doorstep on Christmas Eve:
