The Warwickshire

On Friday in last week the pack met at Warmington and drew White’s Bushes first. They chopped a fox here and then went to Page’s Gorse, which held a leash. Hounds went away with one past the Hare and hounds Inn, ran through White’s Bushes and down the vale into Horley. They ran fast across here, then a right-handed turn took them past Ratley Village, and they lost their fox between here and Hornton. The Upton House covers were drawn blank, so Mr Fielden went on to Edgehill and a fox was found near Sunrising. Hounds ran him the length of the hill, nearly to Knoll End, and killed him in the cover. By this time heavy rain was falling, driven by a piercing north-east wind, so it was not surprising  to draw Mr Ned Gardener’s double blank, and also the osier bed at Old Leys. Hounds were then sent home.

The Volunteer Defence Corps

CORRESPONDENCE

THE VOLUNTEER DEFENCE CORPS.

Sir,-It has been suggested to ne that there are probably a number of sympathisers with the Local Voluntary Defence Corps who although unable to take an active part in the movement, would nevertheless be willing to assist by contributing to the Fund which has been started up to defray expenses in raising and maintaining such a body.

The recent bombardment of Scarborough, Whitby and West Hartlepool must assuredly awaken our countrymen to the absolute necessity of encouraging such a patriotic movement as this. I shall be glad to receive any donation towards this truly national object.
